Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to Tehran Serge Nakouzi and Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Abdolmahdi Bakhshandeh, in a meeting on Wednesday, voiced their enthusiasm for the enhancement of bilateral relations.
In the meeting, the two officials offered their prioritized plans for promotion of bilateral ties.
Nakouzi said in the meeting that a team of FAO experts and technical advisors will visit Iran in late December to discuss issues of mutual interests with senior Iranian officials.
FAO is a subsidiary of the United Nations (UN) and its main objective is to achieve food security for all to make sure people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.
FAO’s three main goals are the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and, the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
