Dr. Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), today received a 12-member high ranking delegation from Singapore led by Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, Singapore’s Minister of Communications and Information.
The delegation included Umej Bhatia, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the UAE, Cheong Ming Foong, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai, Jacqueline Poh, Managing Director, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and other senior government officials.
During the meeting that took place at Dubai Silicon Oasis, the two sides shared insights and explored possibilities of collaborating on various technology projects in the region.
Following the discussions, Dr. Alzarooni led the delegation on a tour of the integrated free zone technology park and briefed them on the latest investment opportunities offered to foreign companies in Dubai.
He also provided the visitors with an overview of the significant strides made by the UAE in the technology space, and highlighted developments such as DSOA’s first smart city project ‘Silicon Park’ that is set for completion in Q4 2017.
Dr. Alzarooni said, "We were pleased to welcome the Singaporean delegation that showed great interest in our projects. Since its inception, DSO has achieved key milestones through integrating new projects and initiatives that enable us to provide better services to our business partners. We are committed to developing a smart technology infrastructure to respond to evolving customer needs that will in turn help us promote DSO’s value proposition on a global scale. The productive discussions during the visit reiterated our strong, long-standing relations with the Singaporean business community that we are confident will benefit from the tech-park’s world class offerings." Dr. Ibrahim commended the smart city initiatives at DSO and the futuristic vision of the Dubai government. He also expressed optimism at the possibility of leveraging the opportunities provided by the Dubai-based high-tech park for the benefit of IT companies in Singapore.
