German lower house of parliament decided to boost the firepower of the eurozone rescue package, or the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), in a vote on Wednesday. The winning in the parliamentary vote gave Chancellor Angela Merkel a strong backing and mandate to negotiate in a crucial European Union summit in Brussels later this day. All eyes are now on whether the EU leaders can finally hammer out a comprehensive and convincing reaction plan to the escalating debt crisis during the summit, the second one in just four days.
