Cairo - MENA
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) hailed the 2030 Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy, which is adopted by the Agriculture Ministry with the aim of increasing the agriculture growth rate by 4 per cent and reducing poverty and unemployment rates in rural areas.
This came in a press conference held Monday under FAO assistant director-general and representative in Egypt Abdessalam Ould Ahmed on the occasion of the issuance of the international report on the state of food insecurity in 2014.
The 2030 Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy will contribute to putting an end to food insecurity cases in Egypt, he said, adding that it will also curb unemployment and improve standards of living.
The international official, meanwhile, pointed out to the plan of the Egyptian government to restructure the subsidy system.
