The Egyptian Embassy in Tokyo on Wednesday organized a symposium for the Japanese Business Community on the available investment opportunities in Egypt, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry.

The symposium, held in collaboration with the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), also highlighted the Suez Canal Development Corridor project, the statement added.

During the symposium, Egypt's Ambassador to Japan Ismael Khairat informed the attendees on the latest political developments in Egypt and the government's willingness to hold free and fair Parliamentary elections in October and November, according to the statement.

Furthermore, Khairat posted the conferees on the latest legislation reforms made by the government which were hailed by the Japanese officials in the symposium, the statement said.

The Japanese officials said these measures will help restore growth and reduce budget deficit, the statement stressed.

A documentary was screened on the Suez Canal Development Corridor project and various projects that will be established in the governorates of Port Said, Ismailia, and Suez, the statement underlined.

These projects will contribute to turning the Suez Canal area into a global logistic center.

The Japanese officials were keen on asking about the details of these projects, especially in the infrastructure area as the Japanese companies have great experience in this field.

For its part, the Japanese companies hailed the new Suez Canal dug in a record time which sends a positive message to business sectors across the world to the effect that Egypt is keen to achieving development.
