More than 60,000 South Koreans spent over US$5,000 using their credit cards in the first quarter of this year, according to customs data, apparently as the local currency strengthened against the U.S. dollar.
According to the Korea Customs Service, those who spent $5,000 or more overseas using credit cards totaled 60,070 during the January-March period. Their combined spending came to $695.29 million.
