During the talks, Yang expressed the hope that Germany could play a more active role in advancing Sino-European economic and trade ties and countering against the trade protectionism, especially against the backdrop of the spreading international financial crisis. In turn, Wulff said that China is of great significance in maintaining world peace and stability, particularly in the current fluid and complicated international situation.
