For the first time in three months, Canadian manufacturing sales dipped in October, down 0.8 percent to $48.7 billion, Statistics Canada reported Wednesday. \"Despite the decline, October\'s sales were the second highest of any month in 2011, surpassed only by September,\" the agency said. Manufacturing sales were down in 13 of 21 sectors responsible for two-thirds of all output. The largest decline was in sales of petroleum and coal products, whose dollar sales were down 4.3 percent to $7.3 billion in October, StatsCan said. By percentage, aerospace products and parts manufacturers reported a 9.7 percent drop in production to $1.3 billion. Those reporting sales increases included motor vehicle parts, which were up 6.2 percent along with computer and electronic products, up 6.3 percent, the report said. Wood product sales also were up 5.2 percent in October.
