The British Department for International Development (DFID) has announced extension of 1.9 million sterling pounds as technical assistance to Sudan in the field of statistics.
The Minister of Finance and National Economy Badr-Eddin Mahmoud explained, in a meeting at his office Wednesday with the DFID Director in Sudan Joanna Reid, that the grant would be directed to the statistical activities in the country including capacity building, preparation of references suitable for the statistical needs of Sudan and organization of workshops by Sudanese experts throughout three years under supervision of the World Bank.
The minister underlined importance of the assistance in implementing more of precise statistics in the financial, monetary and external sector domains besides supplying of economic analytical methods as to contribute to provision of the required data to help policy-makers in the economic domain.
