Manama - BNA
Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, Eng. Essam Abdulla Khalaf, today received Australian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Neil Hawkins, and praised the growing relations bonding the two countries.
The meeting tackled the spoiled meat imported from Australia that had been confiscated by Animal Welfare and Control Administration.
The minister requested the Australian Ambassador to communicate with the concerned Australian authorities to ensure the availability of terms of shipping and storage of goods from the country of production until arrival in local markets.
He also asked to facilitate the mission of a delegation scheduled to visit Australia to be informed of the slaughterhouses procedures in respect of meat storage and shipment to various destinations.
Australian Ambassador voiced concern over the issue, for the Kingdom of Bahrain is an important market to his government in light of the solid relations between the two countries.
He stressed his country's keenness to broaden joint interest.
