Macao saw a total of 3,405 new companies incorporated in the whole year of 2011, with the value of registered capital rose by 94.1 percent amounting to 983 million patacas (123 million U.S. dollars), according to figures released on Tuesday by the city\'s Statistics and Census Service ( DSEC). Of these companies, 1,228 operated in wholesale and retail sector, while 567 were engaged in business service and 440 in real estate in the period, the figures indicated. Analyzed by the residence of the shareholders, 2,064 new companies were established solely by Macao shareholders, and 388 were joint ventures between shareholders from Macao and other countries or regions, according to the DSEC. Capital of the new companies from Macao totaled 743 million patacas (93 million U.S. dollars), up notably by 198.1 percent over 2010, and that from the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong amounted to 135 million patacas (16.9 million U.S. dollars), and 67 million patacas (8.4 million U.S. dollars), respectively, the figures showed. Meanwhile, there were 511 companies in dissolution, up by 3.9 percent over 2010, with the value of registered capital increased by 41.6 percent to 306 million patacas (38.3 million U.S. dollars) in 2011, according to the DSEC.
