The cargo ship behind the 160-meter oil spill at Alexandria port was impounded on Friday, Spokesman for the Alexandria Port Authority Reda el Ghandour said.

Head of Alexandria Port Authority Medhat Attia said the needed action has been taken to prevent the spread of the oil spill.

"Also, water samples have been taken to be tested at specialized laboratories," he added.
