Qatari projects in Gaza implemented

The Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Strip, ambassador Mohamed Ismail Al Emadi, has met with Palestinian Minister of Public Works and Housing Dr. Mufid Al Hassain, and Minister of Labour Mamoun Abu Shahla.

He briefed them on the progress of work in the Qatari projects , and the mechanism of entry of construction materials and accessories for reconstruction of these projects, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

During the meeting which was held today at the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction headquarters in Gaza City, ambassador Al Emadi confirmed that all Qatari projects carried out in the Gaza Strip, whether through the donation of HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani which amounted to $ 407 million or the $1 billion, the special reconstruction grant donated by the State of Qatar during the donors' conference held in Cairo in October 2014, were now taking place at an accelerated pace in light of the facilities obtained by the Committee from various related parties.

Al Emadi who arrived in the Gaza Strip last Wednesday, last accompanied by a Qatari high-level medical delegation said that HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al -Thani Hospital for Artificial Limbs will operate over the next few months, according to international standards being practiced at the Hamad Hospital in Doha. He added that the medical delegation currently visiting the Gaza Strip will meet with all the relevant authorities for running the hospital.

From their part, the Palestinian ministers praised the Qatari projects which they said, they meet the various needs of the citizens of the Gaza Strip including infrastructure, housing, roads, health and sports projects, which are characterized by high quality and speed in implementation.

The two ministers called for holding another donor conference in the Qatari capital, Doha, to speed up the pace of the commitment of all donors to implement their pledges towards reconstruction process, whereas ambassador Al-Emadi suggested directing this call through the Palestinian unity government, QNA reported.
