Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel-Ghaffar opened Monday the first stage of Aman cooperatives as part of the state strategy to face price hikes.
The minister told reporters the project aims to sell products at low prices to "alleviate burdens off citizens' shoulders".
He said the ministry opened so far 120 outlets that will rise to 250 nationwide by the end of the month.
He added that he gave directives to monitor prices on the market as well as to ensure the food products maintain public health.
