In an effort to educate and enable stakeholders in the offshore oil and gas sectors, the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre, EMAC, today hosted 'The Advantage of EMAC’s Arbitration Process in the Offshore Oil and Gas Sector' panel, as part of ADIPEC 2017.
As an interactive panel discussion, the session featured some of the leading maritime and arbitration industry leaders from the region and around the world, including Captain Mohamed Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, and guest speaker, London-based author and arbitration veteran, J. William Rowley, QC.
Al Shamisi explained how the centre’s mediators and arbitrators bring a wealth of experience, across a range of sectors, including offshore oil and gas, to ensure the right arbitrator is assigned to the right case.
"At EMAC, each and every arbitrator and mediator on our panel has a wealth of regional and industry experience, with some holding specific experience in the management of cases in the offshore oil and gas sector," said Obaid bin Bashir, Acting Chairman and Secretary General of EMAC.
"For the past year, the EMAC team has worked towards raising awareness of the benefits of arbitration across a range of sectors affiliated with the maritime industries, including the offshore oil and gas sector," said bin Bashir. "This panel provided a vital opportunity for industry stakeholders to gain invaluable insight and discover the value and benefits arbitration can bring to day-to-day operation."
