Ebdaa Bank participates in Sanabel Conference

Al Ebdaa Bank for Microfinance has participated in the 12th annual conference hosted by the Microfinance Network of Arab Countries (Sanabel) in Morocco, under the theme “The Microfinance Experience; Regional Progress and Evolving Trends”.

Dr. Khalid Al-Gazawi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Al Ebdaa Bank, affirmed the importance of the themes discussed during the Sanabel 2016 Conference, noting that topics on the conference’s agenda included building strong human resource functions in Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), the provision of financial services for refugees, risk management in Arab MFIs, preventing the over-indebtedness of clients and benefitting from financial and technical solutions. It also reviewed the prospects of financing projects in the fields of education, agriculture and other vital areas.

 

Dr. Gazawi highlighted the importance of the Al-Ebdaa Bank’s participation in the prestigious conference alongside 500 microfinance practitioners, donators, investors and government representatives from the region and the world, noting that the conference provided a platform for sharing experiences on the latest development in the microfinance industry in the region and beyond through sessions, training and discussions. 
He said that the bank had delegated four of its employees to the conference, adding that the delegation comprised Mohammed Al-Haddad, Mohammed Khalaf, Ali Imran and Zahra Fardan, who took part in a training workshop on “Building Viable Credit Scorecards for MFIs”, held on the sidelines of the conference. 
He added that this year’s conference provided a platform for all concerned stakeholders to network and share experiences, assess progress towards achieving objectives and discuss how effective partnerships, positive regulatory frameworks and good practices can assist in meeting the aspirations for a new era of Micro-finance in the Arab region.
