Aqaba - MENA
Chief Executive Officer of the Egyptian Businessmen Association (EBA) Mohamed Youssef Sunday called for fostering economic ties between Egypt and Jordan to be similar to the distinguished political relations.
The two countries should make good use of the great potentials they have to attract further foreign investments, he added.
Speaking to MENA on the sidelines of his participation in the forum of investment issues in the Arab world held here on Thursday, Youssef said the two states have to exert more efforts to bolster the bilateral economic and investment cooperation.
The stable conditions in Egypt and Jordan qualify them to lure extra foreign investments, especially from southeast Asian countries that strive to pump huge funds in the Middle East during the coming phase, he asserted.
He called on Arab states, especially Egypt and Jordan to make capital out of the great Asian investments pumped during the last year in the world market as China topped the list with $ 116 billions.
Egypt and Jordan need to exploit their potentials, and improve their competitive and comparative advantages to increase the joint investments and diverse the economic partnership, he underlined.
Asked about the forum of investment issues in the Arab world, he said the event was organized in a timely manner, especially in the light of the harsh political and economic conditions witnessed by many countries in the Middle East.
The forum sent a number of important messages to the Arab region and world indicating that Arab private sector insisted on going ahead with the development march and is keen on standing by all Arab leaders and governments to get them out of the difficult situation, he stressed.
Also, the forum showed that the Arab businessmen community is eager to pump more investments in the Arab region.
Also, it has provided a perfect opportunity to exchange ideas and experience on how to face and overcome challenges, according to Youssef .
