Damietta port authority on Sunday closed the strait linking the Nile River with the Mediterranean Sea before fishing boats as the port city was hit by a wave of bad storm and heavy rains.

Also, the harbor's storage silo was also closed to protect the imported grains from damage.

Meanwhile, traffic patrols were deployed on highways and at the entrances of the city to avoid any incidents.
