Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that the volume of labor force in Egypt rose to 28.934 million in 2016 with an increase of 503,000 compared to 2015.
In a report issued on Sunday on the occasion of Labor Day, the CAPMAS said that the number of male workers reached 21.934 million in 2016 comparing to 21.726 million in 2015, while the number of female workers reached 7 million in 2016 comparing to 6.705 million in 2015.
The percentage of employed labor reached 87.35 percent, while the unemployed labor reached 12.5 percent, the report said, adding that the percentage of unemployed females is 23.6, while the unemployed males reached 8.9 percent in 2016.
The report also said that the number of registered workers in 2016 reached 25.331 million, adding that the percentage of working males reached 78.9, while the percentage of working females reached 21.2.
