CAMPAS: Inflation rate up 1.5% in April

The inflation rate inched 1.5 percent up in April to stand at 182.8 points against 180 points in March, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.

In a statement a copy of which MENA received on Tuesday, CAPMAS said the annual inflation rate in April rose by 10.9 percent against April 2015.

The general prices of foods and beverages increased by 2.2% in April compared with the previous month. Prices have increased by 13.5 percent compared with April of the previous year, CAPMAS reported.

CAPMAS also reported that the urban consumer inflation rate in April also increased by 10.3 percent year on year and 1.3 percent month on month. In rural areas, inflation recorded a rise of 1.7 percent in April month on month and recorded 11.6 percent year on year
