The Agriculture Ministry said the Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit (PBDAC) and the Supply Ministry have received around 4.158 million tons of wheat from farmers in all governorates, so far.

The bank's grain storage barns received 1.008 million tons of wheat so far, while grain mills received 909,392 tons of local produce, the ministry said in a statement released on Thursday.

The General Company for Silos and Storage and Al Masria for Silos received 1.129 million and 1.111 million tons of wheat respectively, the statement added.

The three-month wheat harvest began mid-April. 

The world's largest wheat importer has banned trading in imported wheat on the local market without permission from the Supply Ministry during this year's harvest season, from April to July.
