Agriculture ministry: 3.2 million tons of wheat supplied so far

The Agriculture Ministry said the Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit and the Supply Ministry have received nearly 3.386 million tons of wheat from farmers in all governorates so far.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said the bank's grain storage barns received 831,068 tons of wheat so far, while grain mills received 770,444 tons.

The General Company for Silos and Storage and Al Masria for Silos received 902,790 and 782,564 tons of wheat respectively, the statement added.

The three-month wheat harvest began mid April.

Government expects that 4 million tons of wheat to be supplied by farmers by the end of the set time.

The world's largest wheat importer has banned the trading of imported wheat in the domestic market without permission from the supply ministry during this year's harvest season, from April to July.
