Fifty-six ships transited the Suez Canal Thursday, carrying a total cargo of about 4.230 million tons.

The south-bound convoy included 30 vessels carrying 2.258 million tons, while the north-bound convoy included 26 ships carrying 1.971 million tons on board, according to Spokesman for the Suez Canal Authority Tarek Hassanein.
