The Russian ruble on Tuesday plunged by around 5 percent against the dollar as global oil prices tumbled towards a six-year low.
By 1330 GMT the dollar was up to 66.38 against the ruble from 63.17 Monday evening, while the euro was at 78.15 to the ruble. Russia's national currency has lost some 16 percent against the dollar since the start of the year after dropping by around 41 percent in 2014.
