Protests sweeping Hong Kong have nothing to do with the United States, the Chinese foreign minister said Wednesday, brushing off renewed US calls for restraint and warning Beijing will not tolerate "illegal acts."

Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said ahead of talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry, adding: "I believe for any country... no-one would allow those illegal acts that violate public order."
