The EU called Friday for an "impartial investigation" into the killing of eight civilians on a trolleybus during fighting between Ukraine troops and pro-Russian rebels in the eastern city of Donetsk.
"The escalation of fighting and significant recent ceasefire violations, resulting from the actions of illegal armed groups in eastern Ukraine, have led to many deeply deplorable civilian as well as military casualties," a spokeswoman for EU foreign affairs head Federica Mogherini said in a statement.
