r Kevin O’Malley

That is the idea behind author Kevin O’Malley’s new fantasy tale, Queen of Us All. A controlling king is fearful that his kingdom would become weak if handicapped children are permitted to live and has declared that all children with a handicap are to be executed.
A child named Lily is born with “Child Mind”, a condition that leaves her vulnerable to the judgment of the king. Her parents decide to mask her existence and send her away to live in an Elven monastery. When they discover that the authorities have learned of their plan, they must act quickly, propelling Lily to her true destiny.
“I wanted to write a story that would help kids that have a disability to realize that they can accomplish great things,” O’Malley said. “They can succeed as long as they stay true to themselves.”
O’Malley is motivated by the tenacity of his own daughter, who was born with Down Syndrome and has faced numerous obstacles and surgeries. Through it all, she rose to each challenge without complaint.
“I saw my daughter and her friends do their best to live life without a fuss, and I was inspired. My book is about accepting people for who they are, even if that person is yourself,” O’Malley said.
