“Boris The Donkey, I Want Something Better” is a new children’s book about a donkey that thinks he should be doing much better things every day. While it’s important for kids to learn to dream big, Boris finds out there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Business owner, former television news personality, and father of five George Siegal wrote the story. He came up with the idea while trying to salvage a struggling business. Siegal and his business partner joked if they went under they could buy five donkeys and run a carnival ride. They didn't buy the Donkeys, but Siegal wrote the book instead. This beautifully illustrated book follows Boris on his journey to find something better. Siegal says, “I don’t want to overthink a book for young children, kids need to have fun and enjoy following the story. But there is a good lesson in here as well.” Siegal says the lesson Boris learns is one he needed to learn during his years in broadcasting. “I was always thinking of the next job I wanted. Looking back, I wish I had spent more time enjoying each place I was, rather than focusing so much on what was next. I want my kids growing up thinking they can accomplish anything they want in life, but along the way I want them to give their best effort at what they are doing, and to be happy.” Siegal self-published Boris The Donkey, and is currently wrapping up his second book that deals with something his son says all the time, “I Hate That!” Siegal created J.E.L. Productions, a video production company based in San Antonio, Texas that produces television programs, marketing videos, documentary films, and commercials. Siegal started the company in 2001.
