Dubai Culture successfully concludes ‘Live Our Heritage' Festival

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Culture, the emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has concluded its ‘Live Our Heritage' festival, which was held in City Centre Mirdif under the theme ‘UAE Folk Arts.’ The festival was attended by a number of VIPS including Sheikha Fatima bint Hasher Al Maktoum, who visited on the last day.

The festival programme ran for five days from 14th to 18th April, with a range of activities that attracted a high number of visitors.

Fatima Lootah, Manager of Dubai Heritage Development Centres and Head of the Live Our Heritage Festival Committee, said, "The aim of the festival was to raise public awareness about our heritage, which was successfully achieved thanks to the high number of attendees and the public’s enthusiastic participation in a range of workshops and cultural activities that were concluded on World International Heritage Day, 18th April."

The festival highlighted the key stages of the UAE’s development throughout history. Its programme provided an open platform for competitions and sessions, as well as a permanent folk art exhibition and a section for local crafts. Each day of the festival was dedicated to a specific heritage topic, including special sessions with folk dance specialists that provided visitors with a deeper insight into local culture.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures, through enriching initiatives that benefit the emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
