Speaker of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) Ali Larijani arrived in Singapore Tuesday morning on the first leg of his two-nation Southeast Asian tour which will later take him to Indonesia. In a short meeting held at singapore Airport, Larijani discussed with Deputy Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Matthias Yao issues of mutual interest, particularly promotion of bilateral cooperation, the official (IRNA) news agency reported. Larijani’s two-day visit is taking place at the invitation of Singaporean officials. He is heading a political-parliamentary delegation. The Iranian Majlis speaker is to hold separate meetings on Tuesday with his Singaporean counterpart Abdullah Tarmugi as well as a number of the country\'\'s senior officials including minister of trade and industry and transportation minister. Larijani is also to attend a press conference later today. At the end of his visit to Singapore, Larijani will proceed to Indonesia where he is to hold separate meetings with the country’s president and foreign minister on major bilateral, regional and international developments. Currently, Indonesia holds presidency of the Asia-Pacific section of Inter-Parliamentary Union. Iran is scheduled to undertake presidency of IPU\'s Asia-Pacific section next spring.
