Tehran - FNA
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined on Wednesday that the Iranian nation will display its strong will and determination to the enemies by its high turnout in the parliamentary elections on Friday. \"The Iranian nation will give a slap stronger than the February 11 (popular rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran) across the face of the arrogant powers and will display its strong will and determination to the enemies,\" Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a large number of Iranian people in Tehran today. He described the Friday parliamentary elections as more sensitive than the previous polls held in the country, and said, \"The arrogant powers\' front should know that it can do nothing to the (Iranian) nation.\" In relevant remarks on Monday, a senior Iranian military commander had also said that massive public participation in the upcoming elections is a defining and vital factor for the Iranian Islamic establishment. Addressing university students in Iran\'s Central city of Kashan, Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for Logistics and Industrial Research General Mohammad Hejazi said that the level of public participation in the elections is a defining factor, and cautioned that enemies are doing their best to lower the public turnout. \"Enemies have many scenarios for hindering people\'s solidarity in the elections,\" Hejazi said. \"Therefore\" Hejazi said \"the level of participation and turnout in elections is effective in defusing enemies\' plot.\" In relevant remarks earlier this month, Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi warned that enemies have hatched plots to stir tension during the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country, and called for the Iranian people\'s vigilance against such schemes. Based on reliable information, enemies seek to cause tension in the way of elections in Iran; this enhances the importance of the vigilance of Iranian officials and nation in dealing with security issues, Moslehi said at the time. He emphasized that the mass participation of the Iranian people in the elections would defeat enemies and reinforce unity and convergence in the nation.
