Egypt - Arab today
Egypt's foreign ministry strongly condemned on Saturday the terrorist attack on a Saudi Arabian town on Friday which left two dead and 10 injured, including four security personnel.
"Egypt stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia against terrorism and extremism which aims to destabilise its security and stability," a statement from the ministry read.
The ministry also said that Egypt supports Saudi Arabia in taking all necessary measures to root out terrorist cells and foil their plans to protect the safety of its citizens.
Cairo reiterated its stance that all international efforts should unite in the face of terrorism to cut off its financial resources and limit the ability of groups to recruit new members.
The Friday attack targeted a construction site in a neighbourhood slated for redevelopment in the Shiite town of Awamiya, the Saudi interior ministry said earlier, adding that a two-year-old boy and a Pakistani man died from injuries sustained in the attack.
Workers in Almosara district "came under fire and their vehicles were targeted by explosives" from within the neighbourhood, the interior ministry added.
