At least 25 people have been killed and 31 others injured in an explosion near St Mark's Orthodox Cathedral in the Abbassiya area of Cairo, Egyptian Ministry of Health said .

According to the Egypt's MENA news agency, some 14 ambulances rushed to the scene and victims were taken to hospitals.
