Despite his remarkable charge to victory from 21st on the grid at Assen, Lorenzo Lanzi\'s appearance in the World Supersport Championship could have been just a fleeting one after he was omitted from the entry list for the upcoming Monza round. The former World Superbike race winner made a surprise comeback to the WSS series in the Netherlands as part of the privateer ProRace Honda outfit, the Czech team having signed him to replace Lukas Pesek for what was originally intended to be Assen only. Though he struggled initially in the dry, Lanzi rose to the fore during the tricky wet conditions of the race, not only climbing from 21st to first, but going on to win by more than 12 seconds. Marking a first win for the burgeoning ProRace team, though the victory was expected to earn Lanzi a stay of execution in the team, his seat remains \'TBA\' on the official entry list, with official correspondence from the series suggesting his outing was for one race only. Lanzi\'s remarkable victory saw him rocket up the leaderboard to sixth in the overall standings.
