New Zealand beat Australia 20-6 in a World Cup semi-final at Eden Park here on Sunday. The All Blacks scored the only try of the match, through centre Ma'a Nonu in the sixth minute, after a brilliant run and pass by full-back Israel Dagg, and were 14-6 in front at the interval. Two second half penalties from scrum-half Piri Weepu made the game safe for the All Blacks. New Zealand wil now play two-time losing finalists France, 9-8 winners over Wales here on Saturday, in the World Cup final at Eden Park on Sunday, October 23. The match will be a repeat of the inaugural 1987 final which the All Blacks won 29-9 at Eden Park for what remains their lone World Cup title. Australia, twice the world champions, face Wales in the third place playoff here Friday.
