The 43-year-old German, who has won seven world titles, retired from Formula One in 2006 before returning with Mercedes two years ago. But the outfit have struggled to keep up with Red Bull and McLaren while team-mate Nico Rosberg, 26, has overshadowed the veteran. Schumacher is in the final year of his contract. And former rival Gerhard Berger said: "I do not think he will extend it. He has no chance against Rosberg. He will have to admit he cannot beat a young driver at his level."
