Genoa announced on Monday that former Bologna coach Alberto Malesani has been chosen to replace Davide Ballardini as the coach of the Serie A outfit. Malesani, 57, has signed a one-year contract with an option for a further season. He won the UEFA Cup (now the Europa League) and the Coppa Italia with Parma in 1999.
