Indonesia has deployed over 11,335 security guards to secure the 26th SEA Games in the Jakarta and South Sumatra from Nov. 11 to 22, police said here on Tuesday. The security guard comprised of 3,926 military officers and the rest were police officers, Jakarta police spokesman Baharudin Djafar said at the police headquarters. The armed forces officers had been stationed in several spots, including hotels, the route of athletes and at the sport events, said Djafar. \"The security has been conducted based on the standard, the security guards have been deployed at the hotels and 18 spots,\" he said. \"So far the security condition has been conducive, there has been no any report of security problem we received,\" Agung Budi Maryoto, head of operation of the Jakarta police said. Although the conducive situation, Indonesian police chief Timur Pradopo has not ignored the possibility of terror threats that the police deploy a bomb squad during the international event. \"Let me put this way, this is an international event that certainly could be threatened by bomb and terror. So, we will deploy a bomb squad,\" said Pradopo. The police has said that mass gathering was still the main target of the militants. Thousands of athletes and official from the eleven Southeast Asian countries are to take part in 44 sport events at the games that offers 542 gold medals. Twenty four sport events will be held in Jakarta and the rest in Palembang city. The SEA Games is a biennial games under regulation of the Southeast Asian Games Federation with supervision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia.
