Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd scored on his MLS debut as the Portland Timbers came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Union in their first match of the season on Monday. Gabriel Gomez broke the deadlock for the Union after 51 minutes but Andrew Baptiste dragged the hosts level three minutes later. Boyd then put the Timbers ahead with a near-post header in the 66th minute before Khalif Alhassan padded the lead 10 minutes later.
