Reconstruction plans on Roumieh Central Prison in Lebanon will begin on Saturday, officials said. Minister of Interior and Municipalities Marwan Charbel said the plan will rebuild the prison after detainees and Fatah al-Islam members destroyed the third floor of cell block B. The reconstruction plan will have steel doors installed in the cell block, surveillance cameras and retina scans. The $10 million plan was financed by the European Union in cooperation with the Lebanese government. Charbel said the first trial of the Islamist in Tripoli will be held next Thursday. The collective trial will see 18 defendants most of whom were involved in the killing of soldiers at Nahr al-Bared camp and the explosive attacks in military areas in al-Bahsas at the entrance of southern Tripoli and Joroud al Daniya.
