Sanaa - Arab Today
Chief of Staff of the Yemeni army Mohamed Ali al Maqdashi said on Thursday that efforts are underway to form a new Yemeni army.
There will be no corruption and nepotism in the new army, Maqdashi told reporters.
He said the Yemeni army was betrayed by former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh and Houthis.
Maqdashi praised the role played by Yemeni servicemen and resistance groups to liberate the Houthi-controlled areas in Marib and Jawf governorates.
Currently, there is no a military presence in Taiz or Aden governorates due to the Houthi coup, Maqdashi added.
Meanwhile, eight Houthi militants were killed and 12 others injured after Arab coalition warplanes targeted their hotbeds on Helan Mountains.
Three weapon depots and two military vehicles owned by the Houthi militants were destroyed in the operation, which was carried out on Wednesday night.
