Baghdad - Jaafar Al Nasrawi
Leader of the Iraqi Constitutional Monarchy Party, Sharif Ali bin Hussein, has claimed the Iraqi people must choose the regime they see appropriate to rule the beleaguered country. The Iraqi politician called on national leaders to “make the country’s republican system a success, or else to see it fall into the maze of autocracy exercised by previous regimes.” Speaking exclusively in an interview with Arabstoday, Sharif said it was important for Iraq’s government to protect the rights of its citizens. “A constitutional monarchy should be the alternative if the current regime fails,” he claimed. Sharif added that many Iraqis still believe the monarchy could steer Iraq out of crisis. “We will compete in the upcoming elections so that the Iraqi voters can have the final say,” he said. “We will do whatever we can for Iraq.”
