MP Mustafa al-Gendy

The Egyptian Parliament witnesses, this week, intensive activity by the African Affairs' committee, which is headed by MP Mustafa al-Gendy, regarding the establishment of a number of parliamentary friendship associations with the countries of the African continent.

Al-Gendy stressed, in an exclusive interview with Arabs Today, that his committee will deal with the file of establishing parliamentary friendship associations between Egypt and various African countries in order to restore Egypt's significant position in the continent.

He stressed that the establishment of parliamentary friendship associations, enjoys great interest within the corridors of the Egyptian Parliament, led by Dr. Ali Abdel Aal, speaker of Egypt's parliament, as well as Ambassador Sameh Shoukry, the Egyptian Foreign Minister.

Concerning the position of the African Parliament of the Egyptian initiatives in this regard, al-Gendy revealed that Roger Nkondo Dang, the President of the Pan-African Parliament, strongly supports the Egyptian parliament's initiative in this regard, and conducted his own contacts with the heads of a large number of African parliaments, who supported the initiative and awaiting its execution.

He stressed that the ambassadors of Egypt in the African continent have a major role in the boot to this initiative.

In this regard, al-Gendy praised the role of the Egyptian Embassy in Tanzania in creating prospects for economic and investment cooperation and opening new markets for business and investment as well as supporting the Egyptian-Tanzanian cooperation in various fields.

The Egyptian MP Mustafa al-Gendy stressed that the parliamentary friendship associations aims to support President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the Egyptian government's efforts to open the bonds of cooperation with the continent.
