Rafael Nadal was knocked Wednesday out of the Shanghai Masters after losing Viktor Troicki 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). 
Nadal was defeated in the second round in 2014 of the same competition and faced the same fate this year again. Troicki had never beaten Nadal in their previous five encounters. 
AP reported that Nadal returns to Europe with mixed results after reaching the Beijing quarter-finals a week ago but failing to make an impression again in Shanghai.
