Ryder Cup hero Jamie Donaldson said Monday he had suffered a bizarre finger injury after an accident involving a chainsaw.
The Welshman, who won the match-clinching point as Europe defeated the United States in 2014, posted a photo on Twitter of what appeared to be a severe cut to the little finger of his left hand.
Above the picture, Donaldson wrote: "So folks in my time off decided to have a fight with a chainsaw and lost! Oops!! C u in Dubai."
The full extent of Donaldson's injury was not immediately clear, but his words indicated he was planning to return to competitive golf at next month's Dubai Desert Classic.
After a largely poor 2015 season, the 40-year-old Donaldson won his first title in more than a year with victory on the Asian Tour's Thailand Golf Championship just before Christmas, defeating a field that included Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood.
Donaldson had been due to play at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, a tournament he won in 2013, this week but it now seems his first competition of the year will be in Dubai, where the Desert Classic begins on February 4.
