Philadelphia center Scott Laughton was stretchered off the ice and taken to a hospital after taking a hit in the Flyers' playoff game against the Washington Capitals.
The 21-year-old was off balance when he crashed hard into the boards behind the Washington net with 3:49 left in the first period after taking a check from Capitals defenseman John Carlson.
The Flyers went on to win the game 2-1 and stave off elimination from the playoffs but still trail in the series 3-1.
Laughton was face-down on the ice for a few minutes and lay motionless as team doctor Jimmy McCrossin tended to him.
He was placed in a neck brace and was conscious and talking to medical staff as he was taken off the ice in front of a crowd of 19,700 at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center.
The Flyers announced after the game that Laughton would remain at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital overnight for "precautionary reasons."
