Indianapolis - Arab Today
IndyCar veteran Justin Wilson, a seven-time winner in the open-wheel series, will race for Andretti Autosport for the final five events of the season, the team said Tuesday.
The 36-year-old Englishman started in the second row of the Indianapolis 500 and also drove the road-course event at Indy in May for Michael Andretti's team, which fields full-time rides for Americans Marco Andretti and Ryan Hunter-Reay, as well as Colombian Carlos Munoz.
Wilson has driven 170 IndyCar races over 13 seasons and led more than 700 laps with seven career wins, most recently in 2012 at Texas, and 26 podium finishes.
"It's not going to be easy jumping in toward the end of the year," Wilson said. "But I think it puts us in good shape for learning things and trying to progress, and hopefully set something up towards next year."
Wilson will compete in Sunday's Wisconsin 250 and race at Iowa on July 18, and next month at Mid-Ohio, Pocono and Sonoma.
"We're really happy to bring Justin back," Andretti said. "He did a really great job for us at the Indianapolis races."
