Top-seeded Vera Zvonareva advanced but No. 2-seeded Dominika Cibulkova was ousted Tuesday at the PTT Pattaya Open tennis tournament in Thailand. Zvonareva defeated Thai qualifier Varatchaya Wongteanchai 6-2, 7-5 in the first round despite losing her serve three times. She was, however, able to finish off six breaks in 10 receiving games and took 55 percent of the points off Wongteanchai\'s serve. Anne Keothavong beat Cibulkova 6-4, 6-1. She won more points (32-31) than Cibulkova did when Cibulkova served, taking 19-of-28 points when receiving serve in the second set. No. 3-seeded Daniela Hantuchova raced past wild-card entrant Nungnadda Wannasuk 6-2, 6-0 in 62 minutes and fourth-seeded Maria Kirilenko got past Casey Dellacqua 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. But qualifier Hsieh Su-Wei routed fifth-seeded Zheng Jie 6-3, 6-2 and local favorite Tamarine Tanasugarn advanced when, with Tanasugarn ahead 6-3, 4-2, No. 6-seeded Galina Voskoboeva retired. Eighth-seeded Vania King was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Heather Watson. Unseeded players advancing to the second rounds in Pattaya were Akgul Amanmuradova, Misaki Doi, Chang Kai-Chen, Alla Kudryavtseva, Urszula Radwanska Kimiko Date-Krumm and Ayumi Morita.
