By Sean McDaniel: IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) and former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) weighed in today for their clash on Saturday night at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, UK.167.3 pounds and looked in superb shape. For his part, Bute came in slightly heavier at 167.75lbs. Although Froch is fighting at home in this fight, he’s widely considered to be the underdog in this bout mainly because of his lack of hand speed and his tendency to get hit a lot due to his low guard. Bute has excellent boxing skills, huge power and he’s coming into the fight with an unbeaten record. He has, however, vulnerable to pressure and heavy shots from big punchers. He arguably should have been knocked out in his first fight with Librado Andrade in 2008, and in the amateur ranks he was blasted out by Gennady Golovkin. Since turning pro, Bute hasn’t faced any real punches like Golovkin or Froch. This will be a big test of Bute to see if his chin has gotten any better over the years.
