Tsonga got his first serve in just 57 percent of the time but won 45-of-55 first-serve points in the performance, raising his career finals record to 7-3. Second-seeded del Potro, meanwhile, sustained his first loss against Tsonga in four career meetings. He fell to 9-4 in career finals.
